The following genealogy resources and links are a focused, therefore small collection. Our goal here is to provide the amateur genealogist with useful quality links as opposed to inundating with quantity. Should you know of or come across a very useful website that isn't referenced here, please let us know by e-mailing us at: contact@AmateurGenealogy.com.

Alt Codes:

Alt codes are used to make certain alphabet characters that aren't normally found on your computer keyboard. To make an alt code character, you press and hold down the "Alt" key on your keyboard, type in the numeric code and then release the "Alt" key.

The alt codes for German alphabet characters are:

 ä = "Alt" + 132

 Ä = "Alt" + 142

 ö = "Alt" + 148

 Ö = "Alt" + 153

 ü = "Alt" + 129

 Ü = "Alt" + 154

 ß = "Alt" + 225

For special Polish characters, please read "message #500" from Polish Translations - Polish Translators Marketplace.
